Description
These dye blocks are so easy to use! No prior knowledge about using dyes in making candles is necessary. Just drop them in your wax for large batches, or they are easily cut or shaved for smaller candle batches. You can make several colors and shades with the same block just by varying the volume of wax with a single dye block.
For assistance in achieving the colors you desire, the Dye Block Color Chart and Usage Guidelines are available for free download or you may purchase it laminated and in full color.

We tried to get BLACK... We made 5 soy candles and got GREY.. The chart that was sent with the samplers said to add 1 or 2 blocks to 5 pounds of wax. We only used 2 pounds of wax and thought that if it said to use 2 blocks max for 5 pounds.. one block would be more than sufficient for 2 pounds since that is even less than 1/2 of 5 pounds. I've heard some bad things about the chemical smells from liquid dyes so I did some research and decided to try the blocks... first of all they arrived in 1 day...amaxing. second, they had no chemical smell and made the candle such a deep amazing grey color that I needed. I'd give these blocks 6 stars if I could

Q: If I'm wanting to dye 1 lb of soy wax to be the shade of the darker candle, how much should I use?

A: Dye blocks are tricky to measure out, so it's hard to say exactly how much you would need. I would also keep in mind that soy wax doesn't hold color very well, so you will get more of a dull gray than a true black color in soy. I would start off by clipping off one of the corners of the dye block and gradually add just a little bit more to make it darker.

A: Are you using paraffin or soy wax? The black dye block does tend to get a more true black as opposed to the liquid dye.
