Candle Molds FAQ
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about candle molds.
Q: Do you make custom molds?
A: We are not able to manufacture custom molds.
Q: Why is there a hole in the bottom of my mold?
A: The hole in the bottom of the mold is to string the wick through as you are making the candle. You will need to secure the wick at the top and bottom of the mold.
Q: How do I wick a pillar candle?
A: All of our pillar molds have a hole in the bottom to accommodate wicking the candle while it is being poured. You string the wick through the bottom of the mold, secure it at the top and bottom so it can't move, and then you are ready to pour the wax. You can find detailed information on how to do this in the tutorial titled How to Make Pillar Candles.
Q: Do your molds come wick a wick pin
A: The only molds we carry that have wick pins are the votive molds, the wick pins are sold separately. Unfortunately, the company who made the wick pins we used to carry no longer makes them.
Q: Do I need mold release spray?
A: Mold release spray is not a necessity for making pillar candles but it can be helpful. Putting the molds into the freezer for a few minutes after the wax has completely cooled can help the candle release from the mold.
